Machos and leadership

Are the Nigerian youth Ready For Leadership? John W. Gardner, an American activist and recipient of the 1964 Presidential Medal of Freedom defined leadership as the process of persuasion by which an individual induces a group to pursue objectives held by the leader and the followers. Kevin Kruse, an American Professor of History defined leadership as a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards achieving a goal. With these definitions, the question 'Are Nigerian Youths Ready For Leadership?' can thus be broken down, reconstructed and put as 'Are Nigerian youths ready to accomplish tasks through social influence? Are Nigerian youths ready to pursue and bring about the realization of political goals in the country?' My answer is yes, they are ready. In recent times, Nigerian youths have demonstrated great influence in various sectors of the country, ranging from agriculture to technology to industry and to even commerce. In technology, the...

If you're Hungry: Food For Thought

There are different kinds of benefit attached to staying healthy and maintaining purity not just for the sake of following instructions even on ourselves personally. What keeping a good hygiene does to the human body is monumentally beneficial. Some syndicate believe that it's not by our power we're able to survive this long, and that our well being isn't because of our doings. Well, to what extent is this true? There are point that could back this up. The Americans are known to be a nation where their security is tight and well constructed or was it only in their movie. After the 9-11 saga, hardly could anything bypass their security system and render them in a limbo. Should we say effort has been defeated or that it wasn't enough. The spread of the corona virus into the United does it have anything to do with their security system? With all their vigilance should we support the notion that it's not by our power that we're able to survive till this extent...

Escape from Lockdown

The lockdown has made the realist look like an idealist and the idealist are now looking like the realist now. The general fuss of the town has encapsulated every hardworking minded man to a place of safety. Life itself is a dream isn't it? Large majority of us just open our eyes to discover that Gbam! Someone suddenly hit us in the head or knocked us down, some woke up just to see that yes they're having a good dream. I guess that stage is what they call the adolescent stage. It often true that we do not value what we have untill it's gone, truly truly gone. This almost look like a period of accountability where those things which you have done in the past will enable you to hold on to the next life which is ahead. It now on the news that people are no longer suffering from the Corona virus anymore but from hunger virus which they deem to be monumental than the novel itself. Inability to get what you wanted to eat may seem more threatening than the fear itself; havi...

Why in a haste: You’re Not Falling Behind

Nothing annoys me more than the loss of time. When I feel like I’m wasting my time on useless activities, doing meaningless things, or when I’m spending time with negative people, I get frustrated. When it comes to time, I agree with what Darwin once said: “A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.” But I’ve found that an obsession with time can put unnecessary pressure on yourself. I see it a lot with ambitious people—anyone who wants to get the most out of life. They feel like they have to use every single minute of life. Things have to happen: Quick, quick, now, now. You have to keep pounding forward like a freight train that stops for nothing. It’s great that you want to achieve a lot, and live a life of contribution, but does that mean it has to happen NOW? But there’s a fine line between understanding the value of time, and being impatient. One of my mentors is an entrepreneur in his late forties. When I recently told him I...

Keep on fighting, You will get there soon

Amidst this whole COVID-19 pandemic, and the many struggles of life, no matter what life throws at you, know that you can turn it around. You have to stay strong and keep fighting! You have the ability to change your life. And if you’re strong enough, you also have the ability to change other people’s life. You need to be confident in yourself! Keep pushing. Don’t give up! Because you’re going somewhere. Even if life doesn’t seem to be the nicest to you or even if people don’t seem to be the nicest to you either, it’s going to be ok. You’re going to be ok. You really do have a bright future. And you’re going to accomplish a lot of great things. Maybe your future doesn’t involve you finding a cure to cancer or finding a way to travel through space. But that does not mean that what you’ll do on this earth won’t matter. You matter. We matter all! The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can work together to make this world a better place for all of us. So whoever you are, you r...
